Verdejo

  • Rating: 4/5

Rueda is a Denomination of Origin (D.O.) from Central-Western Spain, located in Castilla y Leon. Its main grape variety is Verdejo, but there is also Sauvignon Blanc and Viura planted in the region. Traditionally, Rueda was a region dominated by red grapes, until the Filoxera crisis back in the late 1800s decimated it, giving rise to the dominance of Whites in the region.

Since we have already had great experiences with other Wines from this brand, we decided to give this Celeste a try. And boy, oh boy, it did not fail us. Now let's see what we have on our glass.

Nose before swirling

Before the swirl, peach, lime, and red apple are the main aromas, but there is also a floral scent that lingers on the back of the glass.

Nose after swirling

After swirling the glass, these diverse floral notes come to the forefront, and also some green grass and apple notes make themselves present.

Taste in the mouth

In the mouth, its high acidity is the dominant characteristic. Citric flavours, green apple, and grapefruit invade our palate. Due to its acidity, this Wine feels fresh and its long aftertaste invites us to take another sip.

After smell in the glass

The residual smells are clean, with faint grapefruit notes.

Conclusions:

Great Wine, ideal for late spring or summer days while eating some tapas in good company. This is a Wine I would not age though, as it would lose its characteristic freshness and youthfulness.

All in all, a great buy! It's a clear 4/5, well done, fresh, and interesting. We most definitely are going to buy it again!
